Prof. Dr. Milica Gašić (HHU)
ChatGPT caused a lot of excitement when it appeared in November 2022. We were in awe of its conversational abilities. We were disappointed when it made up content. And we were rightfully concerned what this new intelligence means for society. In this talk, Milica Gašić, Professor of the Dialog Systems and Machine Learning Group, will take a step back and explain in simple terms the technology behind such systems. This might put in perspective its abilities and deficiencies, and guide the way we embrace this new technology as a society. Prof. Gašić will also highlight implications for natural human-computer conversation, and present some of the recent work of the Dialogue Systems and Machine Learning group at HHU in this fast-moving field.
