At first glance, the 1.4 billion inhabitants of the Asian giant state has little in common: living conditions, language, income, religion, culture and not least caste create enormous differences. And yet India is capable of finding and implementing democratically based majority decisions. This lecture addresses questions like: What is the significance of India's role in a world that is currently characterized by intensifying conflicts? And can Germany and Europe learn from India in this respect?
